Acupuncture and Moxibustion (Moxa) are interconnected modalities in Traditional Chinese Medicine and are used together in a treatment. The ancient Chinese character described them as one unit, ZhenJiu針灸 - AcupunctureMoxibustion.
Moxa is a plant-based therapy that warms, heats or in some cases, burns some points on the body to regulate the qi and blood in the channels. Moxa is usually made of mugwort and can be loose (moxa wool), hard or pre-shaped into sticky cones. Sometimes moxa can be made with mugwort, wormwood, and sage or other herbs for different functions.
